Professional painter, published author and doctoral researcher

Born in Bristol to an artist and a BBC video tape editor, Rebecca was schooled in painting from an early age. Her work as an artist greatly informs her research practice and Rebecca finds that she makes connections that others may have missed. Rebecca is studying for a phD in art history and has had a number of peer-reviewed articles published.

Rebecca has worked as a professional painter since the 1990s, exhibiting and selling her work in prestigious venues such as the Mall Galleries, Christie’s and Bonhams. She has taken part in many joint exhibitions, 6 one-man shows and 2 two-man shows, and has carried out numerous private commissions.

After graduating with a first-class honours degree in graphic design and illustration, Rebecca worked as an illustrator for a London art agent.

She had illustrations published in print and on BBC TV, including a poetry book (The World’s Stage, published by Ginn), the BBC Playdays Magazine, and a series of BBC TV Playdays stories.

Rebecca later concentrated on creating her own work, first watercolours of landscapes, animals and Mediterranean buildings, then large abstracts on canvas. In 1992, Lord Bath bought one of her paintings, Around the Bucket (a watercolour of chickens feeding), for Longleat House in Wiltshire.

In 2008 Rebecca had her first entry in Who’s Who in Art (Hilmarton Manor Press). She went on to complete a foundation in art therapy (British Association of Art Therapists) in 2009 and a PCGE teacher training qualification in art and design in 2011.
